We’re incredibly proud to share that our Managing Director, Neil Sime, has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Rail Freight Group Awards, held at Shendish Manor, Apsley, on Thursday 4th September.

This prestigious accolade recognises Neil’s remarkable 45-year contribution to the rail freight industry. From founding Victa Railfreight in 1995 to leading with vision, integrity, and hands-on expertise, Neil has consistently demonstrated the qualities of an exceptional leader. The judges praised his unique ability to combine strategic foresight with operational know-how — a rare and powerful combination that has shaped both our company and the wider industry.
Neil’s unwavering commitment to innovation, safety, and excellence has not only defined Victa Railfreight’s journey but also influenced best practices across the sector. As we mark our 30th anniversary this year, this award feels especially meaningful — a celebration of Neil’s legacy and the collective efforts of the entire Victa team.
The evening brought double celebrations as our talented colleague, James Butterworth, was named Runner-Up in the Young Rail Professional category. James exemplifies the future of rail freight: passionate, driven, and deeply committed to making a difference. His journey highlights the value of industry placements, mentorship, and a clear focus on career development — we’re excited to support him on his career path.-
Congratulations to Neil and James on these richly deserved honours. It’s a proud moment for you, your families, and all of us at Victa Railfreight who share your passion and vision for the future of rail freight.
