The Rail Freight Group's Business of the year.

Victa Railfreight was named Business of the Year at the prestigious Rail Freight Group annual awards on Tuesday (12 September).

The Kent-based company enjoyed a hugely successful evening by also being named runner up in the Customer Care and Support Services category for its Rail Safety Awareness courses.

Further success came when Luke Corkin, Victa’s Team Leader, North of England and Scotland, was highly commended in the Young Professional category.

Judges said that Victa ‘stood out’ from the other Business of the Year submissions. They added: “Victa demonstrates excellent customer service and innovative thinking. Its rapid growth over the last few years has created jobs and improved productivity, safety and profits for its customers as well as for itself.”

The judges recognised the driving force behind Victa’s success.

“It’s Mr Victa himself, Neil Sime. A managing director with a passionate commitment to the rail industry.

“It is especially appropriate in this 10th anniversary year of the awards that this company should win Business of the Year as it won the first ever RFG Award – for Excellence in Service Delivery.”

Praise from the judges also came for Victa’s Rail Safety Awareness courses.

They said: “Victa is working on what RFG recognises as the most important aspect of the rail industry – safety. It has collaborated with various partners, including RFG and the Mineral Products Association’s Rail Construction Forum, to design and deliver a rail safety awareness course for customers in the construction industry.”

An elated Neil Sime said: “Being named Business of the Year means a lot to everybody in the company. It recognises the fact that the hard work of all of our people throughout Victa has contributed to our success.”
