What You'll Be Doing
Your duties will include:
Carrying out shunting operations safely and efficiently within sidings and terminal locations.
Preparing freight trains for main line operation.
Conducting rolling stock inspections.
Checking train loads and ensuring they comply with operational requirements.
Supporting the safe and efficient movement of rail freight services.
Working closely with operational teams to maintain high safety and performance standards.
As shunting forms a significant part of this position, we recommend researching the role of a railway shunter before applying.

Working Pattern
Rail freight operates around the clock, and flexibility is essential.
Weekend working forms part of the role and applicants must be willing to work Saturdays and Sundays when required, although not every weekend will be rostered.
Training & Physical Requirements
Full training will be provided.
Applicants must:
Be aged 18 or over.
Be physically fit, as the role involves regular walking, climbing, working outdoors, and other physically active duties.
Hold a valid driving licence.
