As Victa celebrates 30 years of rail excellence, two landmark projects stand out for the way they showcased our adaptability, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to delivering results: HS1 Phase 2 construction and the development and construction of Whitemoor Yard. Different in scale and setting, both projects demonstrated what Victa does best—taking on complex challenges and transforming them into operational success stories.
CTRL Phase 2: Testing, Tunnels & Teamwork
When Phase 2 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link pushed deeper into London, Victa stepped into a new level of operational complexity. Working from Railheads at Swanscombe and Dagenham, much of the route was underground, shifting our focus towards testing, commissioning, and specialist operational support.

The smaller railheads, tight security constraints, and intricate logistics demanded precision and resilience. Our team provided train pilots, drivers, managed on‑site operations, and ensured seamless coordination across a high‑security construction railway.

As the project moved to conclusion the focus shifted towards testing, commissioning, and specialist operational support. The result? A delivery phase where Victa proved—again—that pressure brings out our best. Our work on CTRL Phase 2 helped shape our future in urban rail projects and cemented our reputation for reliability.

Whitemoor Yard: From Design Concept to Operational Delivery
Up in Cambridgeshire, Whitemoor Yard gave Victa the chance to demonstrate the full depth of our capability—from early-stage design advice and consultancy through to hands‑on operations.
What began with developing a new yard layout for Network Rail grew into a multi‑stage partnership. We prepared operational methodologies, supported the planning application, and once construction began, took on logistics management and railhead operations for the main contractor. We even revived a spoil disposal site at Connington, near Peterborough, to keep the project moving efficiently.
Post‑construction, Victa continued to support GB Railfreight during their first six months operating at the new facility—helping turn a major infrastructure vision into day‑to‑day reality.
One Theme, Two Projects: Delivering Where It Matters
Whether deep below London or across a large Cambridgeshire worksite, both CTRL Phase 2 and Whitemoor Yard showed the same truth: Victa’s strength lies in its people, its expertise, and its ability to adapt to any challenge.
These projects remain powerful examples of what’s possible when teamwork, operational knowledge, and commitment come together.
